The 2022 edition of Poetry & All That Jazz magazine is now back from the printers. Many thanks to everyone who submitted - we had a huge selection of super poems offered. We are delighted to be able to include poems from established poets and emerging poets, local poets, national poets and international poets. This issue includes poems by Louis de Bernieres, Raine Geoghegan, Kevin Higgins, Frieda Hughes, Patricia McCarthy, Stephanie Norgate, Mario Petrucci, Penelope Shuttle, Vicki Feaver, Martyn Crucefix and many other fine writers.

Review of Poetry & All That Jazz 2022

Sam Smith, The Journal, #67. October 2022

Having grown out of Sussex poetry groups and jazz festivals Poetry & All That Jazz (A5 56 pages perfect bound. £5.00  www.chichesterpoetry.simplesite.com) has felt the pandemic's confinements more than solely print-based periodicals. Editor Barry Smith has however managed to gather enough work to put out this 2022 anthology. Have to say that I do like it when a poem, Patricia McCarthy's Letter to Tchaikovsky sends me searching for the whereabouts of Trostianets, and bringing the past into the present. David Swann had me thinking, You too?, when while waiting to read he wondered '...how the poems had gained that strange power / to switch pages when no-one was looking...' The Bit Between the Poems. I found Chris Hardy's Milliner in a Deckchair decidedly sinister. Kevin Higgins gave me much to think on too in the second verse of his To the Man who Lost his Shadow – 'Your immediate family meet annually / to celebrate having forgotten you entirely' And so much sympathy with Jeremy Page in his Thirtieth Year for not having yet written the Great British novel. Another kind of sympathy with Jessica Mookherjee's As I listen to George Harrison Singing My Sweet Lord, provoking a deep sigh.
